Tachibana

たちばな — the wild citrus

We keep Europe's 8-bit micros running — and we keep writing software for them.

Cycle-accurate emulation, operating systems, creation tools, hardware documentation and archives. Starting with the Oric, then its contemporaries.

Our work

Keep

ROM dumps, schematics, manuals, floppies. Whatever isn't copied today won't exist in ten years.

Build

Emulators, operating systems, graphics and sound tools. A preserved machine is a dead machine if nobody writes for it.

Pass on

Documentation, workshops, open source. Everything we make stays reusable by whoever comes next.

Projects

What we're working on

Phosphoric

Cycle-accurate Oric emulator written in C, including V23 / Digitelec modem emulation.

In development

OricOS

Preemptive multitasking OS with a graphical interface for the FPGA-based Oric 2, in 65C816 assembly.

In development

OricForge

A toolchain for creators: HIRES image conversion, tile map editor, graphic assets.

Active

PAVI

Videotex server and Minitel revival — telematics heritage alongside micro heritage.

Lend us hardware

A machine in the attic, a box of floppies, a folder of listings: we document them and give them back.
